Program Description:
Gabelli Business in London

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Whether you choose a spring, summer or fall semester, you’ll have access to Gabelli School courses taught from a U.K. perspective—each designed to meet your specific Fordham degree requirements while strengthening your understanding of doing business in Europe. Your out-of-class hours will be just as valuable. Spend a Saturday at the British Museum. Walk along the Thames. Get tickets to a play in the famous West End. And if you want to travel, continental Europe is at your fingertips: Flights from London to Amsterdam, Brussels or Paris are about an hour, gate to gate.

Studying abroad can expand your circle of relationships and ideas, move you closer to your academic goals and maybe inspire you to set new ones. No matter what your business area of focus, a study-abroad experience with the Gabelli School in London is an ideal way to fulfill course requirements, build your résumé, and have experiences that your classmates who stay home certainly won’t be having.

Today’s businesses are rapidly altering their strategies to adapt to changes in international markets, especially in Europe, and their actions are reconfiguring the U.S. economy. Learning business in a European commercial capital can give you a significant edge over your peers in the eyes of employers. The Gabelli School of Business program in London gives you that edge: fall, spring or summer. Take courses that fulfill core and major requirements.

This program is limited to Business Majors ONLY.

LOCATION

Fordham’s London Centre is located in the Borough of Camden in Central London, in a neighborhood called Clerkenwell.

The United Kingdom—England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland—is a diverse place full of contrasts, featuring a wide range of landscapes and cultures. London, the largest city in Europe, is a bustling cosmopolitan center of astonishing variety and interest that a visitor could explore for months without turning over every stone. The other regions of the U.K. are fascinating for their own reasons, each with a unique personality and history.

While based at Fordham’s London Centre, students may choose to venture from Cornwall in the far west to the Highlands and Islands of Scotland in the north. Cities such as Edinburgh, York, Durham, Chester, and Canterbury are reachable by an excellent rail network, as are areas of great natural beauty, such as the Lake District, the New Forest, and North Wales. And it’s only a quick trip to the Republic of Ireland or France, Spain, and Italy in continental Europe.

ACADEMICS

The Gabelli School in London gives students an advanced socioeconomic understanding of business in the U.K. and Europe through coursework, corporate visits and cultural excursions. Accounting, marketing, finance and other disciplines get a fresh context in Europe.  You will learn business in a European commercial capital while fulfilling your core and major requirements. You will learn from British executives and professors and take your learning outside of the classroom by visiting the headquarters of various U.K. businesses.  Past business visits have included Aston Martin and the Chelsea Football Club.
